Like yard sales? Here's a big one. The annual Folly Quarter Middle School Community Indoor Yard Sale, sponsored by the Leo Club, is Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Get your spring cleaning done early — clean out closets, basements and garages, and make plans to sell those items at the yard sale.
For those who prefer to donate items, instead of spending the day selling, donations are also gladly accepted. Donated items, will be offered to invited guests, who will have the opportunity to shop for free. These guests are from local agencies who serve those less fortunate.
Donations, which are tax deductible, can be dropped off at the school Friday, March 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. To reserve a space to sell items (spaces cost $15), call 443-506-7394 or Neighbornetwk@aol.com.
Glenwood Middle School held its STEM Fair (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at the end of January. Several students did a great job of presenting their projects, which went on to be showcased at the Howard County STEM Fair at the end of February. The following students are recognized for their hard work, creativity and dedication toward their STEM Fair projects: Sam Moyer, Tristan Henkel, Erin Cutroneo, Marisa Patsy, Sayu Ranamukhaarachchi, Martin Wang, Bailey Arenberg, Sean Elia, Jacob Miller, and Austin Wieder.
Tori Wright, Anna Haney, Matthew Bowman, and Sandy Cho recently had the chance to represent Glenwood Middle School at the annual Howard County Solo and Ensemble Festival. These orchestra students all earned the highest rating of "I" on their performances, which makes them eligible to participate in the Maryland State Solo and Ensemble Festival in May.
The Women's Giving Circle of Howard County is currently accepting applications for its residential summer camp, Journey 2013. The camp will include 25 girls entering 8th or 9th grade in the fall of 2013.
