There's a lot happening in Clarksville on Dec. 16.
You are invited to join Prayers and Squares, the quilting group at Triadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church, for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and good deeds.
You need not be an expert quilter. Experience is not necessary. Come get in on the fun from 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 16. For more information, call Peggy at 301-317-5428.
If you choose to dine at Great Sage on Dec. 16, you will be able to support the Humane Society of the United States. Ten percent of sales will go to the charity.
After dinner, you can relax and have your spirits fed with a Christmas cantata at Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church on Dec. 16 beginning at 7 p.m.
Charlie Higgs celebrates another birthday on Dec. 15. Happy birthday, Charlie. Have a great year.

Couples, treat yourselves to "A Lifetime of Love," a Marriage Enrichment weekend sponsored by Linden-Linthicum United Methodist church, Triadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church and two other churches Feb. 8 to 10 at the Dunes Manor Hotel in Ocean City.
You can call it both a Christmas and Valentine's gift. There is an early bird discount until Dec. 17. To learn more, send email to MarriageEnrichment@comcast.net or call 410-531-5444.
You can't have two events at the same time and same place, can you? Yes, you can if they are not quite in the same place.
Come to River Hill High's auditorium on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. for the Clarksville Elementary Band and Strings Winter Concert. Come to the cafeteria to hear Night of Acapella, a River Hill High vocal group, on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Both school groups will perform on the same date at the same time, but not quite in the same place.
The River Hill Music department is delighted to be among the 85 semifinalists vying to become finalists in the Grammy in the Schools competition. This is part of the drug-free initiative.
Congratulations to Jennifer Lu and Roger Mao, clarinetists, on being chosen for the All State Junior Band. Trumpeter Kyle Faulconer, percussionist Sonya Datta, French horn player Xin He and tuba player Mitchell Evans will all be representing River Hill in the Grades 7 to 9 band. We are blessed with so many talented young musicians,
If you're stymied about Christmas gifts for some on your list, Clarksville Middle School suggests magazine subscriptions. It's a gift with double and triple benefits. The school benefits, it's easy for you and it gives all year to the recipient. Call the school before the winter break for the holidays. Order new subscriptions or re-new old ones using the school's code, WC7052.
So, now that you've purchased all those holiday gifts, Margaret Walton sends a reminder to lock doors and windows on your house and car. Don't make it easy for someone to steal your holiday cheer. This is a time when break-ins increase.
