West Laurel has lost one of its best. Beth Evans passed away on April 9, 2013 at her home. She was a longtime resident, community leader and volunteer who was truly a passionate advocate for West Laurel programs and a champion of West Laurel senior citizens. As a West Laurel Civic Association volunteer, she convinced Prince George's County that we should not have to travel 45 minutes to the dump and scheduled an annual Dumpster Day. Beth was instrumental in the reinvigoration of the Neighborhood Watch and our community policing efforts. Under her leadership, West Laurel hosted numerous speakers and special events. She helped coordinate the Prince George's County Police monthly Coffee for Seniors at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. According to Cpl. Beasock, her efforts have made West Laurel a much safer community. Beth loved to talk and be a good neighbor to all. She will be greatly missed.
