Located in an open-air theater set amongst the backdrop of the historic ruins of the Patuxent Female Institute's Historic Park, it's no wonder why in 2010 Money Magazine featured the outdoor theater when it ranked Ellicott City/Columbia No. 2 on its list of 100 Best Places to Live.
The summer season starts tomorrow Friday, June 8, with "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare.
Then, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, adapted by Christina Calvit, makes its debut Friday, June 22. Both shows will be performed on select Thursdays through Sundays until the end of July.
Theater gates open 90 minutes prior to the show to allow ticket holders the opportunity to bring a picnic and enjoy "The Show Before The Show" — interactive entertainment that includes musicians, poets, a costume booth, period games, dances and stage combat demonstrations.
Don't forget to check out the ticket discounts available, including senior, students under 25 and package deals. Kids under 19 are free when accompanied by a paying adult (limit is two free kid tickets for each paying adult).
Free admission is also offered to all active military. For ticket sales and more information, visit the company's website at http://www.chesapeakeshakespeare.com or call 410-313-8661.
