Between three days of concerts, a two-day wine festival and a morning-long triathlon, drivers in downtown Columbia and around Centennial Park in Ellicott City should expect to find traffic delays.
Howard County police say evening concerts held at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will affect traffic on Broken Land Parkway, Little Patuxent Parkway and South Entrance Road all three nights.
Wine in the Woods, meanwhile, will be nearby at Symphony Woods between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Delays should be expected on Broken Land Parkway and Little Patuxent Parkway, with traffic at its worst between 12:30 and 2 p.m. on both days.
And the Columbia Triathlon will bring road closures and traffic delays for several hours around Centennial Park on Sunday between 7 and 11:30 a.m., particularly on Route 108 and the surrounding roads.
"Police officers will be posted at various locations throughout residential roads on the bicycle course to direct motorists or to temporarily close roads to ensure the safety of the bicyclists," said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn. "Motorists are advised to allow extra time or plan alternate routes and are reminded to slow down and use caution when sharing the road with bicyclists."
