Level 4 gymnasts from Aberdeen-Churchville Parks and Recreation Gymnastics traveled to the bay for their final competition of the 2011-2012 gymnastics season. Thirty-seven girls competed in their USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic State Championship meet in Annapolis March 31 and April 1, earning many individual awards and state titles, and one all-around title.
The team also finished second in the highly competitive team competition. The Level 4 State Championships had nearly 300 girls competing, representing more than 27 Maryland gymnastics programs.
Three Aberdeen-Churchville girls competed in the Child D age group.
Sophia Breschi had a state championship performance earning four Maryland state champion titles. She earned first place on vault with a 9.625, first on bars with a 9.7 and first on beam with a 9.55 routine. Sophia also finished fourth on floor exercise with an outstanding 9.625 performance. She earned the all around state championship title with an exceptional 38.5 combined score.
Emma Donarum had a good meet and ended her year with a strong 36.575 combined score. She scored 9.0 or higher on all events and placed 10th on beam and floor exercise with scores of 9.125 and 9.35.
Madison Quick finished eighth on vault with a 9.325 and finished her competition season with a 36.4 all around score.
In the Senior C age group, Aberdeen-Churchville had six girls competing.
Autumn Gladfelter had an excellent state meet, winning the state championship title on vault with a 9.625 performance. Autumn also finished third on bars with a 9.4 and sixth on beam with a 9.1 routine. Autumn finished second in the all around with an outstanding 37.375 combined score.
Jade Vincenti finished second on vault with a 9.5 score, sixth on bars with a 9.3 and third in the all around with a 37.1 total score.
Courtney Cannon finished a strong year finishing third on vault with a 9.45, ninth on bars with a 9.225 and fourth on floor with a 9.4 routine. Courtney finished seventh in the all around with a solid 36.775 combined score.
Abby Freeman finished sixth on floor with a 9.35 and eighth on vault with a 9.275. She also earned eighth place on bars with a 9.2 and eighth in the all around with a 36.675 total.
Caroline Ryan concluded her competition year by finishing fifth on bars with a 9.35 and earning fourth place on beam with a 9.15. Caroline also took ninth place in the all around competition with a strong 36.65 overall performance.
Jessica Autrey placed seventh on vault with a 9.3 performance and finished her season with a 35.675 all around performance.
In the youngest age division, child A, Emily-Jane Wasielewski finished her competition season with a strong performance. Emily-Jane finished second on vault with a 9.5, eighth on bars with an 8.9 performance and third on beam with a 9.05 routine. Emily-Jane also finished fourth on floor exercise with a strong 9.375 performance and earned the second place all around trophy with a strong 36.875 total score.
In the same age group, Ellie Ford finished seventh on vault with a 9.05, and seventh on beam with an 8.75 performance. Ellie finished her season with a 35.3 total all around score for 10 place in her age group. Dominiqe Pecovic finished 10th on vault with a 9.0 score and ninth on floor exercise with a 9.125 performance.
In the senior A division, Aberdeen-Churchville had five girls competing.
Holiday Saccenti had an outstanding state meet winning the state championship title on vault with a 9.475 performance. Holiday finished second on bars with a 9.45 routine and second on balance beam with a 9.3 performance. Holiday also finished sixth on floor with a strong 9.4 showing. Holiday was second in the all around with an excellent 37.625 combined score.
Kylie Bomhardt also had a great state meet. Kylie finished third on beam with a 9.2, fourth on bars with a 9.325 and fifth on floor exercise with a 9.425 performance. Kylie finished in seventh place on vault with a 9.175. Kylie's strong 37.125 total score earned her the third place trophy in the all around.
Aleah Barton finished eighth on vault with a 9.15 score and 12th in the all around with a 35.575 total score. Takyra Baugh finished fifth on vault with a 9.225 score and finished her season with a 35.375 overall performance. Dakota Pitts finished in eighth place on floor with a strong 9.275 performance.
Riley Wilson was the only girl from ACPR competing in the child C division. She finished second on uneven bars with a strong 9.525 score, third on balance beam with a 9.4 performance, and in fifth place on floor with a 9.373 routine. Riley also scored a 9.225 on vault for eighth place. Her strong overall performance earned her an outstanding total score of 37.525 and the third place all around state championship trophy.
