Harford's Greatest Athletes: Jess Harlee

The first true D1 recruit from Harford County girls high school basketball, Fallston's Jess Harlee hasn't slowed down at the University of West Virginia, where the Mountaineers finished the 2012 season 24-10 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. In her sophomore season, Harlee led the team with 65 steals and was second in minutes played, while averaging 5.1 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. "She's our stopper," her coach says, Mike Carey, of Harlee's defensive prowess. At Fallston High, Harlee led the Cougars to a 28-0 record and the 2009 AAA State Championship as a junior and then came back from a vollyball injury in time to help the Cougars repeat as state champs in 2010. Before that 2009 perfecto, no Harford girls team had won a state title in the modern era.
