( The Mason Gazette / July 6, 2012 ) Aberdeen's Jai Lewis led surprising George Mason University to the NCAA Final Four, where he is shown scoring in the Patriots' semifinal loss to eventual champion Florida. Lewis was a standout on the Aberdeen High state championship team in 2001 and a huge presence on the football field as well as a tight end. He tried out unsuccessfully for the New York football Giants after college and is currently playing professional basketball in Japan. In the NCAA Final Four game against Florida, Lewis outscored and outrebounded the Gators' future NBA first round pick Joakim Noah, who is watching Lewis score in the photograph. |
