In the final showdown of the Harford Men's Summer Lacrosse League season, the PE Sales squad wrapped up a perfect campaign by topping Bill Bateman's, 10-7, in the championship round Sunday afternoon.
With the win, PE Sales wrapped up the season at 8-0, while second-place Bill Bateman's wound up at 6-2.
Leading the way for the title-winning team was Mike Antinozzi, who blasted away three goals. Evan Farkas scored twice in the final, while teammates Christian Shafer, Zach Douglas, Dan Guttermuth, Matt Baroch and Jeremy Knapp all netted one goal. Justin Gosnell, Zach Esser and Nick Kahoe all had one assist in the victory.
PE Sales goalie Ryan Chognoski picked up five saves.
Bill Bateman's Jim McNeely posted one goal and one assist, while teammates Kenny Reid, Dominic Mezzanotti, Marcus Coppola, Mike Strappelli, Eric Kluge and Danny Rew all scored once in the loss. Brad Wilson dished out two assists for Bill Bateman's.
Bryan Burrill scratched out five saves tending to the Bill Bateman's net, while Tom Yancheski had three saves.
In their semifinal contest, the PE Sales men topped Class Produce (2-5), 11-6.
Farkas led the way offensively, scoring six times, while Knapp added two goals. Antinozzi had one goal and two assists, while Shafer and Connor O'Toole both scored once, and handed out one assist. Guttermuth was credited with one assists in the victory.
Chognoski posted five saves in the semifinal showdown.
Class Produce was led by Zach Linkous, who had two goals and one assist. Rob Hopkins scored twice in the loss, while Joel Linkous had one goal and one assist. Will Stumpf put away one goal for Class Produce.
Bateman's moves on
The Bill Bateman's squad earned a spot in Sunday's final by defeating the Hinder Ford Team (4-3), 10-7, in the semifinal round.
Ben Wilson, Adam Knox and Scott Showalter all had two goals in the victory, while teammates Taz Stewart, Marcus Coppola, Dominic Mezzanotti and Kenny Reid all had one goal. Brad Wilson led the Bill Bateman's team in assists with two.
Splitting time in the winning side's goal, Bryan Burrill had five saves, while Tom Yancheski had six.
Hinder Ford was led by Josh Pons, who netted four goals. Sam Chell, Alex Walsh and Ryan Ireton netted one goal apiece, Luke Phipps had two assists, and Graham Archer posted one assist in the loss.
Ben Richards saved 12 shots while in the Hinder Ford goal.
In Saturday's playoff round, the Hinder Ford squad moved on when Just Extreme Graphics (2-5) had to forfeit because of a lack of players.
Class Produce tops Under Armour
Needing a win to move on to Sunday's semifinal matchups, the Class Produce team topped Under Armour (0-7), 10-7, Saturday in the playoff round.
Class Produce's Zach Linkous had four goals and two assists, while teammate Gordy Long posted three goals and one assist. Rob Hopkins, Jediah Youseffi and Will Stumpf all had one goal in the victory, while Joel Linkous had one assist.
Will Rego and Ed Klein each had five saves in goal for Class Produce.
Under Armour goalie Sean Klein had 11 saves.
Taylor Winternitz scored three times and dished out two assists in the loss, while Brandon Gain and C.J. Fowler both had two goals. Drew Rolands had one assist.
