Outlook: After winning two straight 3A North regional titles in 2010 and 2011, the Mustangs saw their state tournament streak unceremoniously ended last season with a regional semifinal loss to North Harford. "For 2013, we look to rebound from a season where we under-performed with a revamped squad featuring a mix of strong returners and promising new players," head coach Russell Kovach said. "We look to compete with the two-time defending UCBAC champion Rising Sun for our the Chesapeake Division title, and then battle Eastern Tech, Bel Air and North Harford for the 3A North region title in May. Our schedule may be the most challenging of any Maryland softball team, and our ultimate goal is making it back to the state playoffs."

Key returning players: Ariel Hastmann, Sr. (OF); Jordi Jandreau, Sr. (OF); Morgan Kaseman, Sr. (SS)

Outlook: Though they did not have the worst record in the UCBAC last season, the 2013 Rams have little place to go but up after wrapping up 2012 with a 3-14 mark. "We have a great group of girls this year," head coach Megan Meinert said. "We are looking to improve on last year's record, and continue to grow as a program."

Key newcomers: Lindsay Bowler, Fr. (2B); Ashley Leavens, Fr. (3B); Kaitlyn Vane, Jr. (SS, 2B)

Outlook: Last year's Susquehanna Division champ, the Cobras will have to deal with a much tougher schedule this time around, as they were promoted to the Chesapeake Division. "We expect to have a decent season," veteran head coach Fred Mongan said. "We're just looking forward to a great year of softball."

Havre de Grace

Head coach: Nicole Lowenstein (first year)

Last year's record: 13-8

Key returning players: Taylor Smith, So. (1B); Megan Thompson, Jr. (P)

Key newcomers: Lindsey Fenner, Jr. (3B); Kateri Peters, So. (OF)

Outlook: "Our focus is on solid fundamentals and aggressive play," Lowenstein said of the 2013 Warriors. "We will not be a team that beats itself this year. We will be aggressive in every aspect of our game and look to capitalize on other team's mistakes. We have really worked on instilling a relentless mentality throughout all of our players. With this approach to each and every game this year, I believe we will be a tough team to beat."

"Our team is full of positive, young, talented players that, in my opinion, will give the Chesapeake Division a run for its money. We are equipped with strong pitcher and catcher combos that I expect to lead our team to a winning season."
