CMW splits at tournament
After making it to the championship round of the Franklin Invitational Tournament on Saturday with an opening-round victory over Williamsport, the C. Milton Wright Mustangs suffered a 7-2 defeat to Eastern Tech.
Jordan Pross was 2-for-3 with a triple in the loss, while teammate MacKenzie Fitzgerald was 1-for-2 with a two-RBI double.
With the game tied, 2-2, after four innings of play, Eastern Teach rallied for a pair of runs in the fifth, then added three more in the sixth.
The Mustangs' opening-round contest with Williamsport ended as an 11-3 victory for CMW.
The game was called in CMW's favor after six innings because of tournament time constraints.
The Mustangs out-hit Williamsport, 14-4.
Pross led the way in the victory, going 3-for-3 with a triple and a team-best four runs scored. Jenny Lynch was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one run, while teammate Catherine Kim went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
CMW bashes Tech
The C. Milton Wright Mustangs posted double-digit runs on Thursday en route to a 14-3 win over the host-team Harford Tech Cobras.
The guests struck first in top of the second inning with a four-run outburst, then, after the Cobras scored their first run in the bottom half of the inning, CMW came through with eight runs in the third. CMW and Harford Tech scored two runs apiece in the fourth.
CMW's Payton Pross was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs and one stolen base, while teammate Luzetsky finished 3-for-4 with one run, one RBI and one stolen base. Lindsay Ibberson was 3-for-4 with three runs and one steal. The Mustangs' MacKenzie Fitzgerald was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
Harford Tech's Alyssa Hockaday led her team's offense, going 2-for-2 with a two-run homer. Ashley Leavens was 1-for-1 in the loss.
Earning the win was CMW starter Morgan Fulton, who tossed four innings.
