The Aberdeen IronBirds produced nine runs and 12 hits in their Tuesday-night home matchup with the Tri-City ValleyCats, but still came up short in a 13-9 defeat.

Aberdeen's' top offensive contributor was Creede Simpson, who went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, four RBIs and one run scored. Leadoff man Gregory Lorenzo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in the loss.

Taking the loss was Aberdeen reliever Kenneth Wise (1-2), who allowed five earned runs on one hit, walked three and struck out one in 1-1/3 innings of work.

With the loss, Aberdeen fell to 20-29 on the year.
