In a Monday home contest with the Vermont Lake Monsters, the Aberdeen IronBirds took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but could not post another run in an 8-2 defeat to end their latest homestand.

Lucas Herbst was 2-for-5 with a double and one run for Aberdeen, while Joel Hutter was 1-for-2 with two walks and one RBI. Aberdeen leadoff man Gregory Lorenzo was 1-for-5 with one run scored, and teammate Torsten Boss went 2-for-4 with a double.

Making his first start with Aberdeen since being promoted from the Gulf Coast League, IronBirds starter Brady Wager (0-1) took the loss, going four innings in which he struck out two, walked zero and allowed four earned runs on five hits.

The defeat put Aberdeen at 17-25 on the season.
