In Tuesday's opening wave of Harford County high school golf matches, the North Harford squad edged out the Harford Tech, Aberdeen and Patterson squads at Geneva Farms.
The Hawks posted a combined score of 222, while Harford Tech took the second spot with a 228 mark. Aberdeen finished third at 266.
Leading the winning squad was Nick Kress, who came through with a nine-hole score of 39. Josh Nagengast came in with a score of 42, while Hawk Morgan Wirtz carded a 45. Tyler Stinar and Michael Boley recorded scores of 46 and 50, respectively.
Harford Tech's top finisher was Noah Davis, who put up a 41.
Aberdeen's Bryon Ensor led his team with a round of 40.
CMW kicks off with win
In a season-opening match played at Mountain Branch Tuesday, the C. Milton Wright team, helped by two sub-40 rounds, bested the Fallston and North East squads.
CMW finished with a combined score of 207, while Fallston came in with a 230 and North East finished at 258.
Quentin Cummings had a sizzling round of 35 to lead the Mustangs, while teammate Rickey Scheeler carded a 39. Ian Moore and Jake Labe both had scores of 44, while teammate Matt Smith came in with a round of 45.
James Appel led Fallston with a round of 42.
