In the second half, Matthai scored twice more to complete her hat trick, while Madie Adams and Audrey Boroshok each scored once.

Sabrina Rhodes handed out all five of the Mustangs' assists, the second time she's done it this season.

CMW goalie Sydney Rhodes had five saves.

Patterson Mill's Maddie Hedrick posted 11 saves.

Tied after penalty strokes

The Fallston Cougars and North East Indians played for 80 minutes, then went to penalty strokes and still could not resolve a deadlock in a Wednesday matchup at North East that ended as a tie.

Fallston's best scoring opportunity of the game came in the second half, when the Cougars sent a shot off the North East goal post.

In overtime, Fallston saw three of its players carded, and the Cougars were forced to fend off the Indians short-handed.

"We played two men down in the seven-on-seven overtime for three minutes at one point," Fallston coach Alice Puckett said. "And, we were a man down for most of the second overtime period."

After the second overtime period expired without a score, the game moved to penalty strokes. Fallston's Jenna Caldwell was the only member of her team to score; the other four penalty takers' shots were blocked or missed.

North East also scored on one of its penalty strokes, but Fallston goalie Kayla Solomon came up with four saves to preserve the tie.
