Commentary: Throwing out some autumn wishes as fall sports move ahead
First off, though I know I've been doing this a lot lately, let me gush about the Orioles. Unfortunately, I could not stay up to watch all of their 18-inning epic on Tuesday and Wednesday, when they played two full games worth of baseball in order to grab a 4-2 victory over Seattle (some of my friends who have to wake up in the wee small hours of the morning, like 4:30 a.m., reported turning on the television to see Baltimore closer Jim Johnson working the bottom of the 18th inning). I did, however, stay up until 1:30 a.m. on Thursday to watch the O's best Seattle in extra innings for a second straight time, this time walking away with a 3-1 win after Adam Jones cranked a two-run homer in the top of the 11th.
