With the score of his team's Tuesday afternoon road game tied, 2-2, in the first sudden-death overtime period, North Harford's Kevin Thompson scored his third goal of the day, and this one did the trick, giving the visiting Hawks a 3-2 victory over the C. Milton Wright Mustangs.
Thompson's first two goals of the contest came in the opening half, which ended with the two squads tied, 2-2.
Randy Foster dished out two assists to help the winning cause, while teammate Nick Green had one assist.
CMW's goals were scored by Manny Mastromanolis and Dakota Stern.
North Harford goalie Robert Fiackos had nine saves in the victory, while CMW's Logan Keys racked up eight saves.
With the win, North Harford improved to 5-0-1 overall, and 1-0-1 in Chesapeake (upper) Division play. CMW fell to 1-3 overall, and 0-1 against Chesapeake Division opponents.
Patterson Mill, Fallston tie
Tuesday's matchup at Fallston saw the Patterson Mill Huskies and host-team Cougars go scoreless through two halves of regulation play, and two periods of sudden-death overtime, with the end result being a 0-0 tie.
Patterson Mill goalkeeper Ian Dowding posted 12 saves.
Fallston goalie Pat Coonan notched three saves.
The Huskies best scoring opportunity came with 18 minutes left in the second half, when Logan Hennlein ricocheted a shot off the Fallston goal.
"The Husky defense of Joey Matassa, Tom O'Neill, Danny McKee and Tom Trzeciak each played 100 minutes, and all had a super game," Patterson Mill head coach Wes Rich said.
The tie put Fallston at 4-1-2 overall, and 1-0-1 in Chesapeake Division play. Patterson Mill, hot off a tie with the undefeated North Harford squad, moved to 3-1-2 overall, and 0-0-2 in upper division action.
Harford Christian whitewashes opponent
The Harford Christian Eagles added to an already long list of shutout victories Tuesday night by defeating the visiting Arlington Baptist squad, 8-0.
The Eagles (6-2) led, 3-0, at halftime.
John Wilson led the Eagles, scoring twice and dishing out a pair of assists. Ian Edwards scored a pair of goals in the victory, while Jake Little had one goal and two assists. Seth McCarty had one goal and one assist for the Eagles, while Luke Fletcher and Garrett Smith both had one goal. James Howell, Paul Franco and Alex Caldwell each had one assist.
Tech shuts down Joppa
The Harford Tech Cobras (4-3 overall, 2-0 Susquehanna) earned a division victory Tuesday, knocking off the visiting Joppatowne Mariners, 4-0.
The loss put Joppatowne at 0-4 overall and 0-2 in Susquehanna Division play.
