Just one day removed from an overtime showdown with Perryville in the opening round of the Green-n-Gold Tournament at Cecil Community College, the Harford Tech Cobras found themselves right back in the fire on Friday night, as they defeated Elkton, 45-44, to capture the Green Bracket championship.

The Cobras had to battle back from a 25-20 halftime deficit.

Hunter Norcross had 10 points, six assists and four rebounds in the victory. Following the game, Norcross was named as the tournament's MVP.

Harford Tech's George Hargrove had 14 points and nine rebounds, while teammate Isaiah Gills grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds. Both Gills and Hargrove were selected for the All-Tournament First-Team.

On Thursday, in the tournament's opening round, the Cobras came through with a 60-49 overtime victory against Perryville, which came in the contest with a perfect 5-0 record.

With the scored tied, 49-49, after four quarters of regulation, the Cobras outscored Perryville 11-0 in the first overtime period.

Leading the Cobras was Gills, who had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Norcross had 12 points and seven rebounds in the victory, while Hargrove had eight points and seven rebounds.

Edgewood takes crown

In Friday's all-Harford County title game at the Joppatowne Winter Invitational Tournament, the Edgewood Rams avenged an early-season loss by knocking off the host Joppatowne Mariners, 61-57.

The last time the two teams met, on Dec. 13, Joppatowne walked away with a 50-47 victory.

The tournament title game saw Edgewood take a narrow, 34-32 lead into the halftime break.

Edgewood's Kevin Ringgold had a team-high 12 points, while also racking up three rebounds, three steals and six assists.

The Rams' Lolami Charles had 10 points, two blocks and a team-leading 14 rebounds, while teammate Detrick Matthews had 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists. Lenier Tucker notched 10 points and four rebounds in the win, while fellow Ram Jaleel Gibson put up 10 points, one rebound and one assist.

The Rams won easily in Thursday's first round of the Joppatowne Winter Invitational, topping the IDEA Charter School squad, 76-48.

Roderick Harrison scored 18 points to lead the Rams' offense, while Gibson had 13 points. Charles netted 10 points, and Danny Crawford scored nine points for Edgewood.

The Mariners won their opening-round engagement Thursday at the Joppatowne Winter Invitational, beating Severna Park, 50-45.

Markell Huggins led the Mariners' offense, posting 20 points, four rebounds and five blocks. The Mariners' Sir Nicolas Phillips had 13 points and 11 rebounds, while teammate Matthew Jones scored seven points.

Bobcats miss title at North Carroll

The Bel Air Bobcats were topped in the Paws Division title game of the North Carroll Holiday Hoops Tournament on Friday, losing 70-63 to Pikesville.

Bel Air battled back from a 25-10 first quarter deficit to cut Pikesville's lead down to 35-31 at the halftime buzzer. The Bobcats were within three points of their opponents in the final four minutes, but could not get any closer.
