Fallston, Edgewood, Havre de Grace Aberdeen and Joppatowne boys basketball teams stayed alive Tuesday night in boys basketball playoff action, winning their respective matchups.

Harford Tech, Patterson Mill, C. Milton Wright, Bel Air and North Harford all lost to end their seasons.

The Fallston Cougars won their opening-round playoff game with Harford Tech, dispatching the host-team Cobras, 55-40, in a Class 2A East VII Sectional matchup.

"We knew coming in that we'd have to limit [Harford Tech center] Isaiah Gills," Fallston head coach Tim Lacock said after the game. "He's very tough on the boards, and that's where he scores most of his points, so we tried to keep someone on him most of the game. We held him to under 10 points, so I think we did a pretty good job. We got into foul trouble late in the game, with three or four guys who all had four fouls, so everyone had to chip in four us to win tonight."

The sixth-seeded Cougars led, 22-16, at the halftime break.

Wyatt Alexander scored a game-high 20 points in the victory, while teammate Ben Lodanski had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

"Ben was a big part of the win tonight," Lacock said. "He came up with a lot of rebounds."

Fallston's Jordan Greenwood had nine points.

Gills scored nine points and pulled down a game-best 16 rebounds, while Harford Tech's Fred Gordon had 11 points and five steals. Hunter Norcross had nine points in the loss.

Fallston traveled to play second-seeded Edgewood in the sectional semifinal Thursday night at 6 p.m.
