Needing a road victory over Elkton Friday night to secure their second straight UCBAC Chesapeake Division title, the Edgewood Rams won in commanding fashion, polishing off the Elks, 65-44.

The victory put Edgewood at 11-1 in Chesapeake (upper) play and 17-4 overall. Patterson Mill finished in second place with a 10-2 upper-division mark. The Rams will move on to play Susquehanna (lower) Division champ Joppatowne in the UCBAC title game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at C. Milton Wright. Last year, the Rams captured their first UCBAC crown with a 55-41 victory over Patterson Mill in the conference championship game.

Jaleel Gibson helped the winning cause with a game-best 25 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Edgewood's Lenier Tucker had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Roderick Harrison posted nine points, four rebounds and two steals. Kevin Ringgold and Lolami Charles both scored six points in the victory. Charles pulled down 10 rebounds, while Ringgold dished out a team-high three assists. The Rams' Detrick Matthews had six rebounds, two assists and two points.

Patterson Mill edges Perry Hall

The Patterson Mill Huskies wrapped up their 2012-13 boys basketball regular season Friday night with a tight road victory, knocking off Perry Hall, 47-44.

The victory put the Huskies at 10-2 in the Chesapeake and 15-5 overall.

Patterson Mill led, 21-17, at halftime.

Khalid Smith paced the Huskies' offense, notching 16 points in the victory. Bryce Butler scored 12 points, while Kevin Dorsey and Mike Reed each netted eight.

Joppatowne undefeated in division

The Joppatowne Mariners, who clinched the UCBAC Susquehanna (lower) Division title last week, ended their division schedule with a perfect 14-0 mark Friday night, dispatching the North East Indians, 62-45.

The win pushed Joppatowne to 18-2 overall, the best season record of any UCBAC boys basketball team.

Leading the way for the Mariners was Markell Huggins, who had 17 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, four assists and three blocks. Khalil Gore posted 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists, while Jermaine Head Jr. came through with eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Rashaad Gore had seven points in the victory, while fellow Mariner DeAngelo Morgan registered six points and three steals.

CMW, North Harford tangle

C. Milton Wright ended its regular-season Friday night with a Chesapeake Division victory, defeating the visiting North Harford Hawks (8-12 overall, 3-9 Chesapeake), 65-51.

The Mustangs improved to 13-7 overall and 7-5 in Chesapeake play.

CMW's Mychal Stefanides had a season-best performance, scoring 30 points, dishing out a team-best five assists and picking off four steals.

The Mustangs' Corey Bays had 14 points and led his team in rebounds with five. Will Hazelton had seven points and four steals in the victory, while teammate Logan Keys had five points.

North Harford's Brock Hurley once again led the Hawks in scoring, hitting for 19 points. Madison Varvaris had eight points for North Harford, while Collin Keating had seven.

Aberdeen closes with win

The Aberdeen Eagles (4-16 overall, 3-9 Chesapeake) took a victory in their final regular-season contest Friday night, edging out host Fallston, 47-42.
