In their first game following a narrow, four-point loss to Patterson Mill on Friday, the Edgewood Rams got back on track with a 61-49 Monday victory over the visiting C. Milton Wright Mustangs.
The win put Edgewood at 7-3 overall, and 4-1 in Chesapeake (upper) Division play. The Mustangs fell to 8-5 overall, and 1-4 in Chesapeake Division contests.
Edgewood's Kevin Ringgold posted 11 points, four steals and four assists, while teammate Lenier Tucker notched nine points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Roderick Harrison had 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists in the victory, while fellow Ram Jaleel Gibson put up 10 points, three rebounds, two steals and five assists. Lolami Charles scored seven points, while posting team-best totals with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Fortune Okigweh had six points, five rebounds, two blocks and one steal for the Rams, while Detrick Matthews had six points and five rebounds.
Mychal Stefanides led all scorers, posting 25 points in the loss. CMW's Will Hazelton had five points, three steals and three assists, while teammate Connor Bays had three points and four rebounds. Sam Hahner and Alex Battaglia both scored five points for the Mustangs.
Bel Air over North East
The Bel Air Bobcats earned a home-court, Susquehanna (lower) Division win on Monday night, defeating the visiting North East Indians, 75-49.
With the victory, Bel Air improved to 9-4 overall, and 5-1 against Susquehanna Division foes.
The Bobcats jumped on their guests quickly, outscoring the Indians, 22-9, through the first quarter, and at the halftime buzzer Bel Air led 60-34.
Tyler Norcross put up 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats, while teammate Calvin Fleagle had 18 points and six assists.
Huskies outlast Rams
The Patterson Mill Huskies overcame a halftime deficit and picked up a huge Chesapeake (upper) Division victory on Friday night in defeating the visiting Edgewood Rams, 77-73.
Coming into the contest, both the Huskies and Rams had yet to be defeated in three Chesapeake Division contests. The victory pushed Patterson Mill to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the upper division, while Edgewood (3-1 Chesapeake) fell to 6-3 on the year.
After two quarters of play, the Huskies trailed, 31-27.
Kevin Dorsey led his team in scoring, pouring in 25 points for the Huskies, while teammate C.J. Felder had 13 points in the victory. Malik Bonds netted 12 points, while fellow Husky Khalid Smith posted 11 points. Bryce Butler had nine points for Patterson Mill, and Mike Reed scored seven.
Edgewood's Jaleel Gibson had 25 points in the loss, and teammate Lenier Tucker netted 16 points. Roderick Harrison registered nine points for the Rams and Trey Hathaway scored seven points. Edgewood's Lolami Charles and Fortune Okigweh both had five points.
Mariners over Warriors
The Joppatowne Mariners (8-3 overall, 5-0 Susquehanna) kept their lower division unbeaten streak alive on Friday night with a 73-60 defeat of the visiting Havre de Grace Warriors (4-5 overall, 3-2 Susquehanna).
Leading the way for the Mariners was Sir Nicolas Phillips, who finished the game with 28 points and 15 rebounds, both of which were team-high totals. Keith Alexander had 13 points, seven assists and four steals in the win, while teammate Khalil Gore put up eight points and fours steals. Joppatowne's Markell Huggins had seven points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals, while fellow Mariner Jermaine Head Jr. came through with five points, six assists and five steals. Sean Tanner scored nine points for Joppatowne.
Havre de Grace's Lavell McCullers had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Zayrron Blake scored 10 points.
