Bel Air knocks off Perryville

Two days after a painful, four-point loss to the Havre de Grace squad, the Bel Air Bobcats returned the favor to Perryville, which had yet to drop an Susquehanna (lower) Division contest, beating the host-team Panthers, 59-54.

The victory boosted Bel Air to 8-4 overall, and 4-1 in Susquehanna Division play.

The Bobcats started slowly, allowing the hosts to score nine unanswered points to start the contest, and at the end of the first quarter, Bel Air trailed, 11-4.

By the close of the second quarter, Bel Air had chipped Perryville's lead down to 25-23. The Bobcats took control of the game in the third quarter, when they outscored the Panthers, 20-10, to take a 43-35 lead.

The Panthers, however, were not done, as they managed to cut the Bel Air advantage to 55-51 with less than two minutes left in the game. In the game's final minute, Bel Air's Juwan Singletary and Calvin Fleagle hit back-to-back two-point field goals to put the Bobcats up, 59-51.

Tyler Norcross led the Bobcats, putting up 19 points and 12 rebounds. Fleagle scored 15 points, while teammates C.J. Simmons and Parker Jones both scored 12 points.

Mustangs win at home

Playing at home Thursday, the C. Milton Wright boys basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to knock off the visiting Cristo Rey Jesuit squad, 58-47.

CMW trailed, 28-24, at the halftime break.

Mychal Stefanides paced the Mustangs in two categories, notching 24 points and four assists. Will Hazelton had 12 points and a team-best three steals, while teammate Chris Kiley netted eight points. Connor Bays had seven points in the victory, while fellow Mustang Brendan DeGross had a team-high five rebounds and scored two points.
