Despite damp and challenging playing conditions Thursday, Harford County's high school golf teams waged a battle for the 2011 Harford County Championship on the tees and greens at Geneva Farm Golf Course in Street.

North Harford took home the team trophy by scoring 502, six strokes better than both Bel Air and C. Milton Wright. They both shot 508.

Bel Air was team champion at the District VII Tournament last month, while CMW won the UCBAC Chesapeake Division title earlier this week.

Rounding out the field of teams with enough players to score were Patterson Mill with 550; Harford Tech with 565; Fallston with 574; and Aberdeen with 700.

Bel Air's Matt Hottman, winner of the district and Chesapeake tournament titles, finished a stroke back at 78, as did CMW's Quentin Cummings. Steven Rappe of CMW followed with a 79, while CMW teammate Shane Harper and Patterson Mill's Eric Langrehr each shot 80.

John Nagengast of North Harford shot 81, while rounding out the top 10 with scores of 82 were North Harford's Nick Kress, Tech's Noah Davis and Fallston's Max Bradley.

North Harford's other contributing golfers in the team score were Alex O'Shaughnessy, 84; Nick Conway, 87; and Tyler Stinar, 91.

North Harford also had the top female finisher as Morgan Wirtz was an easy winner with a round of 85. District champ Brittany Kemen of Fallston was runner-up at 95 and Bel Air's Nicole Haggerty was third with 99.
