The Bel Air girls volleyball team went on the road Wednesday evening to face its toughest test to date, a match with Rising Sun in a UCBAC Chesapeake Division battle.
Bel Air (7-0 Chesapeake, 10-0 overall) left no doubt which team is strongest, sweeping the Tigers in three straight games. The scores were 25-14, 25-14, 25-21.
Celeste Roland had a team-high 14 kills, while Amanda Rodriguez added two kills, 27 assists and two aces. Kendall Daley chipped in 14 digs and five aces and Tia Williams added eight kills. Jackie DeLuise had six kills and Kaila Gonzalez had two kills.
The Bobcats also received outstanding back row defense from Consuelo Ezcurra and Rien Hachmann, according to head coach Tim Markland.
Hawks sweep Cobras
North Harford (8-1, 8-2) bounced back from its Monday defeat to sweep Harford Tech, 3-0, in Susquehanna play at Tech (3-6, 3-6). The scores were 25-10, 25-15 and 25-19.
Britney Fleming had seven aces and one kill for North Harford and Morgan Knox added four aces, seven kills and two blocks. Sam Pappas had five kills and six blocks.
Mustangs blank Huskies
C. Milton Wright (6-2, 6-4) notched another Chesapeake victory Wednesday, beating host and winless Patterson Mill (0-7, 0-7) in three straight. The scores were 25-8, 25-19 and 25-12.
The Mustangs were led by junior hitter Tori Smith's six kills and seven aces. Senior Jenna Buettner added one kill, four aces, one assist and three digs.
Also contributing were setter Megan Aro, eight assists and two kills. Marisa Harris and Alexis Cuffee combined for two aces, four kills and two blocks.
In two other games, both in Susquehanna play, Aberdeen (7-2, 7-2) beat Havre de Grace (3-6, 3-7), 3-0, (25-11, 25-10, 25-23) and Joppatowne (1-8, 1-8) beat Edgewood (1-8, 1-9), 3-0, (25-22, 25-18, 25-20).
The Fallston-North East match was postponed due to the power outage that closed Fallston High School early on Wednesday.
