Bel Air tops CMW in girls volleyball

In a battle for UCBAC Chesapeake Division supremacy, Bel Air hosted C. Milton Wright in a key girls volleyball match Monday. The undefeated Bobcats (5-0 league, 8-0 overall) were too much, sweeping the Mustangs (3-1, 4-2) in three sets. Scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15.

Celeste Roland had the big night for Bel Air, finishing with 11 kills, two aces, 13 digs and 10 perfect passes, while Tia Williams added nine kills and four aces.

Jen Schofield dished out 22 assists and Kendall Daley added five aces, 10 digs and 18 perfect passes. Also for Bel Air, Kaila Gonzalez recorded four kills and Jackie DeLuise had three kills and one ace.

The Bobcats also received outstanding back row defense from Sam Liberto and Lexi Malinowski, according to Bobcats head coach Tim Markland.

Hawks lead Susquehanna

North Harford continued unbeaten in Susquehanna action Monday with a 3-0 defeat of host Edgewood. The scores were 25-13, 25-16 and 25-16.

Leading the Hawks (5-0, 5-1) was Morgan Knox, with three aces and three kills. Alexis Lyttle, Sam Pappas and Megan Wooten each added three kills and Becca Simon had four aces and one kill.

Edgewood (1-4, 1-5) was led by Kelsey Swann, three aces, and Shannon Bowman, three digs.

Cougars get first league win

Fallston (1-4, 2-4) picked up its first Chesapeake win Monday, but needed five games to do so against visiting Patterson Mill (0-6, 0-6). The Cougars winning scores were 25-18, 18-25, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-12.

The Cougars were led offensively by Brooke Alexander with nine kills and Brittany Callahan with six kills. Emily Mozal added 28 assists. Defensively the Cougars were led by Phoenix Offutt's nine blocks and Megan Snee's 13 digs. Asia Avena also served seven aces.

Panthers beat Cobras

Harford Tech (2-4, 2-4) traveled to Perryville (5-1, 5-2) Monday for a Susquehanna match and fell, 3-1. The Cobras scores were 11-25, 25-18, 20-25 and 11-25.

Morgan Tennant led Perryville with 14 aces, four Kills, 20 assists and three digs, while Marissa Phillips added five aces, six kills, one assist and nine digs.

Other Monday scores

In two other Susquehanna matches Monday, Bo Manor (4-2, 4-3) defeated host Havre de Grace (2-4, 2-5), 3-0, while Aberdeen (3-2, 3-2) beat host Joppatowne (0-6, 0-6), 3-0.

Havre de Grace scores were 18-25, 17-25 and 7-25. Aberdeen's scores were 25-11, 25-14 and 25-14.

Bobcats, Hawks lead Friday play

Girls volleyball teams from Bel Air and North Harford each stayed unbeaten in their respective UCBAC divisions Friday.

Bel Air went to Elkton and won, 3-0, in Chesapeake play, while North Harford hosted Bo Manor and needed five sets to win their Susquehanna match.

Bel Air's winning scores were 25-20, 25-5 and 25-20, while North Harford's scores were 25-23, 15-25, 13-25, 27-25 and 16-14.

In Bel Air's win, the Bobcats leaders were Celeste Roland, 14 kills, five aces and 11 digs and Tia Williams with six kills and six aces. Kaila Gonzalez and Jackie DeLuise each had four kills and Madi Bever had three aces. Kendall Daley also had 11 digs and seven perfect passes; Consuelo Ezcurra had six digs and five perfect passes; Jen Schofield had 15 assists; and Rien Hachmann had seven assists and two aces.

North Harford's leaders were Morgan Knox, one ace, nine kills and three blocks; Sam Pappas, one ace, seven kills and one block; Megan Wooten, four kills and two assists; Sydney Billings, one ace and six assists; Emily Boegner, six aces and four assists; Britney Fleming, five aces; Sammi Moore and Becca Simon, three aces each.

Tech beats Joppatowne

Harford Tech defeated visiting Joppatowne, 3-1, in Susquehanna action Friday. The scores were 25-12, 18-25, 25-10 and 25-15.

Highlighting the Tech win were Britney Chavis, six aces ands three kills; Jamie Tubao, four aces and 30 assists; and Alyssa Hockaday, four aces and two blocks.

Stats were not provided for Joppatowne.

Panthers sweep Warriors

Perryville beat visiting Havre de Grace, 3-0, in Susquehanna play Friday. The scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-17.

Morgan Tennant led the Panthers with 16 service points, 10 aces, six kills, 16 assists and 12 digs. Emily Merklinger added 10 service points, one ace, six kills, one assist, three blocks and seven digs.

Stats were not provided for Havre de Grace.

Tigers beat Huskies

Patterson Mill remained winless after a 3-0 loss to visiting Rising Sun in Chesapeake play Friday. The scores were 10–25, 14-25 and 10-25.

Highlights for Patterson Mill were Taylor Moran, three kills, 25 blocks (two for points), and three digs. Catherine Tames added two kills and four digs and Haley Scribner had two kills and 13 blocks (two for points).
