John Carroll edges Bel Air
John Carroll evened its girls soccer record at 1-1 Thursday afternoon, beating visiting Bel Air, 3-1, in a come-from-behind victory.
Bel Air had taken a 1-0 lead into the second half on a Taylor Hensley unassisted goal in the first half, but John Carroll posted three unanswered goals in the final 40 minutes to post the win.
Sophie Centi, Meredith Haggerty and Nicole Wojcik each netted goals for the Patriots.
Patriots goalie Katie Cooper had six saves in the win and Bel Air keeper Karlie Scherba finished with 16 saves. Thursday's game was the first for Bel Air this season.
Cougars crush Elks
Fallston made 2-for-2 in the win column Thursday with a easy victory over visiting Elkton, 10-0.
The Cougars spread the scoring around, getting one goal each from 10 players.
Scoring were Kayla Reilly, Brooke Nigrin, Caroline English, Erin Propheter, Lauren Woollen, Sierra Taylor, Marissa Walker, Skylar Body, Courtney Epstein and Beth Walton.
Indians trip Eagles
Aberdeen also played its first game of 2012 Thursday, traveling to North East where the Eagles and new coach Tara Larkin were facing former Eagles coach Matt Roberts. Roberts, in his first season with North East, guided the Indians past the Eagles, 2-1.
Faith Edmonson scored the lone goal for the Eagles, who led 1-0 at the half. Liz Fitch and Becca Lewis were both credited with assists on the goal.
Aberdeen goalie Lisa Eller recorded three saves.
