The C. Milton Wright girls lacrosse team ran its unbeaten record to 7-0 Tuesday night, visiting and beating Bel Air, 18-3, in an UCBAC Chesapeake (upper) Division game. The Mustangs led 10-3 at half and held Bel Air scoreless in the second half.
CMW's Lauren Haggerty (one assist) and Katie Burgee scored three goals each to guide the Mustangs, who are 2-0 in league play. Brooke Williams added two goals and two assists, while Maggie Gallagher, Haley Alexander and Haley Matthai tallied two goals apiece.
Kaitlan Moynihan, Abby Smucker and Alyssa Austen each had a goal and assist and Lauren Cavanaugh added one goal.
Cassidy Jones, Sam Keesey and Morgan Hollenback scored for Bel Air.
"We have really wanted to improve our level of play from the beginning of the season. The girls have worked hard in practice to progress into a group that functions seamlessly no matter which pieces we use," CMW Head Coach Brent Ritz said. "Our secondary break hasn't been where we want it to be yet, but we showed some great signs of improvement tonight. We are playing at an excellent pace and using each other well. Bel Air did an excellent job on the draw tonight and really took advantage of some great circle play. I was very pleased with our defensive effort in holding Bel Air scoreless for over 29 minutes."
CMW goalie Alexis Strouse made seven saves.
Taylor Gillis and Lucy Loughlin both played goalie for Bel Air, with each making two saves.
Hawks beat Huskies
North Harford stayed perfect as well in Chesapeake Division play with an overwhelming win over visiting Patterson Mill Tuesday. North Harford rolled out to an 11-0 halftime lead and cruised to an impressive 15-2 win.
Leah Monticello scored four goals to lead the Hawks (3-0 league, 6-1 overall) and Katie Clark added two goals. Emily Clark had a goal and assist and Morgan Knox had a goal and three assists, while Sophie Crowther added two goals. Nicole Latgis, Claudia DiVenti, Caitlin King, Jennifer Doering and Bailey Saneman each had single goals.
Patterson Mill (1-1 league, 3-5 overall) scoring was handled by Gabby Vujanic and Sam Herman.
Hawks goalie Haley Ensor made four saves. Michaela Welsh and Nicole Hinkle also saw tie in goal for the Hawks, each making one save and Huskies goalie Erin Dent made seven saves.
Warriors thump Indians
Havre de Grace picked up its first Chesapeake Division win Tuesday afternoon, winning big at North East, 17-3. The Warriors (1-2 league, 4-3 overall) led 12-3 at the half.
Lauren Herrington led the victors, scoring four goals and assisting on three more. Haley Dean, Colleen McCormick and Margaret Stump each finished with two goals and one assist.
Taylor Johnson also scored twice, while single goal scorers were Helen Boniface, Kara Neiberlein, Maddi Cypher, Taylor Clark-Hartman and Martine Ianniello. Katie Thompson added one assist.
Stump and Carly Thompson led with four draw controls apiece and Courtney Knight had four ground balls. Cypher caused three turnovers and goalie Abbie Blessing recorded nine saves.
Mariners beat Eagles
Joppatowne earned its first Susquehanna (lower) Division win, beating host Bo Manor, 9-8, Tuesday. The Mariners overcame a 5-2 halftime deficit.
Christina Miller and Lindsay Rizzi led the Mariners (1-2 league, 2-5 overall) with three goals each and Emily Murphy notched two goals. Katelyn Fabi added one goal in the win.
