The John Carroll girls basketball team made it three wins in a row with a 59-44 victory over visiting Mt. de Sales Wednesday night.
The Patriots got off to a slow start in the new year, taking a narrow one-point lead into the intermission, 21-20, but put together another offensive explosion in the second half, netting 38 points. Marta Moix and Yemaya Johnson led John Carroll with 12 points each, while senior Sam Clarke added 10.
John Carroll saw 10 players reach the scoring column in a balanced attack that has come alive of late.
Eve Lukowski led all scorers for the Sailors with 14 points, while Gabby Cha and Sammi Gillis each had 12. Gillis hit on 4 of 6 three-point attempts to account for all of her scoring.
The Patriots are 4-7 after getting out of the gate very slowly. They will be tested Friday as they host McDonogh in IAAM A Conference play. Tip-off for the game is 5:30 p.m.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
