The C. Milton Wright Mustangs handed Fallston football its first loss of the season on Friday, defeating the host-team Cougars, 19-14.
Fallston jumped out to a 14-0 in the first quarter, as running Marc Badger had a rushing touchdown, and receiver Wyatt Alexander caught a scoring pass from quarterback Brendan Weinhold.
After blocking a Fallston punt and recovering on the Cougars' 20 yard line in the second quarter, CMW got its first points of the game when quarterback Omar Walker hit Will Hazelton with a 15-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the Mustangs behind, 14-6.
CMW cut the Fallston lead down to a pair of points with just nine seconds left in the first half, as Walker connected with Tyler Hall on a four-yard touchdown pass. On the two-point play, Walker's pass attempt was blocked by the Cougar line, and heading into the halftime break Fallston was holding a 14-12 advantage.
The Mustangs scored on their first possession of the third quarter, as Omar Walker tossed a five-yard touchdown pass to brother Osiah Walker. A converted extra-point kick gave the Mustangs a 19-14 lead.
Fallston's final possession of the game ended when the Mustangs' secondary batted down a fourth-down pass from Weinhold.
With the loss, Fallston fell to 5-1, while the Mustangs improved to 5-1.
Patterson Mill works Harford Tech
The Patterson Mill Huskies (3-3) earned a home-field victory over Harford Tech (1-5) on Friday, defeating the visiting Cobras, 40-16.
Huskies' quarterback Luke DePasquale completed seven of 11 passes for 119 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, DePasquale rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown.
Patterson Mill's Devinn Fisher rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on nine carries, and caught a 48-yard touchdown pass.
Kynarvis Clark had 49 yards on nine carries in the victory, while fellow Husky Mike Reed caught three passes for 42 yards and one touchdown.
Mike Reed had three catches for 42 yards and one touchdown, while Ryan Jacobs helped the winning cause with two catches for 26 yards and one touchdown.
The Patterson Mill defense was led by Tyler Oppel, who had 11 tackles. Jake Martin notched nine tackles in the victory, while teammates Dan Cardwell and Trey Hall both had eight tackles. The Huskies' Zach Dorn had one interception, while Reed also picked off one Harford Tech pass.
North Harford over Bel Air
The North Harford Hawks topped the Bel Air Bobcats, 31-21, Friday night.
With the victory, North Harford's second straight, the Hawks improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Chesapeake Division play.
The loss dropped Bel Air to 3-3 overall, and 1-2 against Chesapeake Division opponents.
Patriots still unbeaten
John Carroll improved to 6-0 Friday night, beating host St. Mary's, 31-21.
