With the UCBAC field hockey championship settled last week, teams are now focused on the regional playoffs.
In the open draw held late last week, just three of Harford's 10 teams were drawn to play in first-round games Tuesday, while the other seven drew first-round byes and are scheduled to play Thursday, as the brackets move to the quarterfinal round.
In Tuesday's first round, Fallston was to begin defense of its Class 1A state title from a year ago, with a Class 1A North game against winless and visiting Havre de Grace. The winner will play at top seed Perryville on Thursday.
Also Tuesday, Edgewood was to visit Rising Sun in 2A North play. A win would send the Rams to top seed Century on Thursday.
In other 1A North action set for Thursday, Harford Tech will visit Joppatowne and Patterson Mill will visit Bo Manor.
In 3A North play Thursday, an in-county contest will pit Aberdeen at UCBAC champ C. Milton Wright, while North Harford will host Patapsco. Bel Air will be on the road, traveling to Parkville.
Region games are set for 3:30 p.m. starts, but night games are allowed with a start time of 7 p.m.
Winners of Thursday's games will move on to semifinal games scheduled for Monday. Region championships are scheduled for Oct. 31.
