The C. Milton Wright Mustangs field hockey team kept its UCBAC Chesapeake Division record perfect Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over host Patterson Mill. The game was tied, 1-1, at the half.
Haley Matthai and Sabrina Rhodes accounted for the CMW (3-0 Chesapeake, 8-1 overall) scoring, while Mariel Castronova tallied the lone Patterson Mill (1-2-1, 2-5-1) goal.
Matthai scored five minutes into the game, off an assist from Jenny Eckert. Castronova then scored her unassisted goal to knot the game at 1-1.
Rhodes then scored the game winner early in the second half, assisted by Matthai.
Sydney Rhodes had 13 saves in goal for CMW and Maddie Hedrick had three saves in goal for the Huskies. CMW defensive backs Bethany Riley and Emilee Halley were each credited with crucial stick saves as well.
Hawks blank Eagles
North Harford (3-1, 6-2) stayed close to leader CMW with a 5-0 win at Bo Manor on Wednesday. The Hawks led at the half, 2-0,.
Maddy Dolinar and Sophie Crowther paced the Hawks scoring with two goals each, while Becca Rinaca had a single tally.
Dolinar also dished out a pair of assists, as did Kara Parks. Haley Ensor also had an assist.
North Harford played two goalies with Abby Phillips making four saves and Amanda Carter being credited with none.
Mariners beat Elks
Joppatowne (3-1, 6-2) continued its fine season Wednesday with a 2-0 win at Elkton in Susquehanna play.
After a scoreless halftime tie, Brianna Hamburg put the Mariners ahead with an assist from Darrisha Small.
Ashley Martinez added a unassisted goal to close the scoring. Mariners goalie April Kinyua had 15 saves.
Cobras beat Rams
Harford Tech (1-2-1, 3-4-1) won its first Susquehanna game Wednesday night, beating host Edgewood (1-3, 3-5), 3-1. The game was deadlocked at the half, 1-1.
Brooke Fullem had two goals to lead Tech, while Tyler Bethke had a goal and an assist and Lyndsey Endlich and Courtney Poole each had assists.
Tech goalie Hannah Snyder had five saves. Tech had a 9-4 advantage in corners.
Havre de Grace fell at North East, 10-0, in Susquehanna play to stay winless on the season. The Warriors are 0-4 in league play and 0-8 overall.
Wednesday's Susquehanna game between Aberdeen (0-2-1, 1-5-1) and Perryville (3-0, 4-3) was previously rescheduled for Tuesday, but rain postponed the game. The game was to be played Thursday in Perryville.
