The Havre de Grace Warriors boys soccer team moved a big step closer to the UCBAC Susquehanna Division title Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over visiting North East.
Freshman Connor Haffey tallied the game's only goal just over seven minutes into the action. Haffey stepped into a loose ball just inside the 18-yard box and delivered a low shot to his right past a diving North East keeper.
North East had two decent opportunities minutes before the goal, but neither shot found the net as Warriors goalie James Antonoplos earned another shutout.
Hawks blank Tigers
North Harford earned its first Chesapeake win Tuesday by shutting out visiting Rising Sun, 3-0. David Meyer, Kevin Thompson and Luke Boegner each had goals and Dan Urban had one assist. Hawks goalie Austin Reitz made seven saves for the shutout. The Hawks led 1-0 at the half.
Host Harford Tech put up six goals Tuesday night en route to a 6-2 win over Perryville in Susquehanna action.
In the eighth minute, Tech's Tyler Smith scored on a feed from Justin Morris; Perryville's Armando Ercole tied the score 22 minutes later unassisted.
Tech added a last-minute goal to end the half as Josh North scored off an assist from Kevin Ferger.
The Cobras then stretched the lead to 5-2 with three unanswered goals to begin the second half. Zach Rumke and Smith netted unassisted goals and Will Tripp added the third with assist from Kyle Natale.
Asa Driscoll got a goal back for Perryville, but the Cobras put the final touch on with another last minute goal. Steve Chapman did the honors with assist from Smith.
Tech goalies Dan Ashburn (two saves) and Tyler Granese (one save) combined for the win, while Perryville keeper Garrett Little made nine saves.
HCS wins again
Harford Christian traveled to Granite Baptist in Glen Burnie for an MACSAC match Tuesday and returned with a 7-0 win to remain unbeaten. The Eagles scored three goals in the first half and four in the second.
Seth McCarty opened the scoring with his first of two goals, assisted by Luke Steelman. Luke Tittel followed with an unassisted goal and John Wilson closed out the first half with an assist by McCarty.
That same combo, Wilson from McCarty, opened the second half scoring, before McCarty added his second tally unassisted. Vince Wilson then scored back-to-back goals, both assisted by Steelman, to end the scoring.
The Eagles moved their MACSAC record to 6-0 and their overall record to 11-0.
Eagles edge Huskies
Aberdeen edged visiting Patterson Mill, 3-2, in Chesapeake action Tuesday night. The Eagles led 2-1 at the half.
The Eagles got goals from Ramsey Lee, Tyler Green and Justin Howard. Green, Kevin Shumaker and Andrew Frazer each had assists.
Patterson Mill's goals were scored by Alex Embres and Kyle Walzcak, while Brandon Ortiz and Walzcak each had one assist.
Aberdeen goalie Matt Mengel made six saves, while in the Huskies goal, Brady Morton made five saves and Ian Dowding had four.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
