In Wednesday night's lone boys basketball game, Joppatowne's Markell Huggins lit up the nets for 28 points to lead the Mariners past visiting North Harford, 61-44, in a non-league meeting. The night before, Patterson Mill stay unbeaten in boys basketball.
The Mariners (8-3) led, 36-12, at the half Tuesday night.
Huggins also had four rebounds and three assists. Lavelle Banks added 16 points, 10 rebounds and two assists, while Trevon Mosely finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, six steals and three assists.
Rodney Barnett scored 16 points to pace the Hawks (7-6) and Brock Hurley added eight points.
Rams over Cobras
Edgewood took a break from the division play of the UCBAC boys basketball schedule Tuesday night, but it didn't cool the Rams recent hot play. The Rams knocked off visiting Harford Tech, 66-51, blowing the game open with a 16-9 fourth quarter advantage.
Thomas Dillard scored 20 points to lead the Rams and also collected seven rebounds. Maulvi Williams added 17 points and he also had seven rebounds. Troy Anderson grabbed eight rebounds for the Rams (10-2) and Van Rolle contributed six assists and four steals.
Tech fell to 8-5 with the loss.
Huskies still perfect
Unbeaten Patterson Mill and C. Milton Wright also took a break from their division schedules Tuesday night for a non-league contest. Patterson Mill added another win to its unbeaten record with a 73-57 win over the Mustangs.
Garett Burkhead scored 24 points to lead the Huskies (12-0), bringing him seven points shy of 1,000 for his career. Burkhead will likely reach that mark during Friday's road game at Rising Sun. Game time is 7 p.m.
JJ Butler added 15 points in the win and Mike Reed finished with 14 points.
Mychal Stefanides scored 19 points to lead CMW (7-7) and Conner Bays scored 10.
Patterson Mill led, 35-25, at the half.
Bobcats beat Tigers
Bel Air improved its UCBAC Susquehanna Division mark to 2-1 Tuesday night with a 20-point win, 59-39, at Rising Sun. The Bobcats led by just five, 28-23, at the half.
Bel Air had a 16-4 third quarter to open a 44-27 lead before settling in for the 20-point win. Tyler Norcross had 18 points and 24 rebounds and Tommy Keller added 12 points and eight boards. Juwan Singletary chipped in nine points and six rebounds.
