A Havre de Grace man died Friday as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident this past May.

On May 17, Aaron Joseph Peterson, 45, crashed into the back of a car in the 2000 block of Pulaski Highway on his motorcycle.

The car, a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 81-year-old Geraldine Strouth, was pulling out of a shopping center on to Route 40 and Mr. Peterson did not have time to stop, according to state police at the time.

Mr. Peterson was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore with facial injuries and had been unconscious at one point.

He was listed in stable condition the following day, but Maryland State Police Lt. Charles Moore confirmed Monday that he had died.

Strouth was not injured in the accident.

Although Mr. Peterson died as a result of injuries sustained from the accident in May, Moore wrote in an e-mail Tuesday that his death does not count toward the traffic fatalities in Harford County for this year.

For state police statistics, Moore said they don't complete a "fatal booklet" unless the death occurs within 30 days of the initial accident.

Had this accident counted toward the tally of fatal accidents, it would have brought Harford County's total for 2012 to 18, including an accident Friday.
