A 14-year-old boy was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in the auditorium at Havre de Grace High School Friday, Havre de Grace Police reported.
Students gave conflicting accounts of the incident, which was reported to police Monday, Ofr. Jeff Gilpin said.
The boy allegedly groped the girl and exposed himself to her, Gilpin said.
"Some of the statements regarding the alleged sexual assault at the school were conflicting. Some statements coincided with the victim's, while others were on the contrary," Gilpin said in an e-mail.
"What needs to be determined is who actually witnesses what and what is the relationship of the witnesses to the victim and suspect," he said, noting that social influence for teenagers in school is often much stronger than for adults outside.
"We have to ensure that opinion and perspective is removed so that we are left with just the facts," he said. "These allegations are very serious and we must have all of the facts possible before the correct action can be taken."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
