A 40-year-old Abingdon man has been accused of secretly filming his 16-year-old daughter in the shower, according to charges brought by the Child Advocacy Center.
The girl was taking a shower in early November when she noticed her father's iPod Touch recording her on a basket above the toilet, according to charging documents.
She watched a video of her father setting up the recording and an image of him in a sexually explicit pose, and then deleted the recording so he could not see her naked, according to the documents.
The girl confronted her father, who told her this was his first time doing anything like this.
He later admitted to a law enforcement official that he planted the recorder because he "just wanted to see her naked" and that he has a problem with voyeurism.
He also told the Child Advocacy Center "this is not the first time he has video/photographed someone without their knowledge," according to the documents.
The man was charged with sex abuse of a minor, being a peeping tom and conducting visual surveillance of another person in a private place without their consent and with prurient interest. He is not being identified by name by The Aegis to protect the identity of the victim.
The man's bail was set at $100,000 Monday by Harford County District Court Judge Victor Butanis. Electronic court records show he posted bond and was released from the Harford County Detention Center Wednesday.
