One flown to trauma center after Harford crash Tuesday

Maryland State Police

A Havre de Grace resident was flown to a trauma center after being trapped in a vehicle by crash in eastern Harford County early Tuesday morning, the Harford Volunteer Fire & EMS Association reported.

The crash happened at Route 161 and Wilkinson Road between Darlington and Level at about 6:30 a.m.

"One vehicle was off the roadway with a subject trapped, the second vehicle was in the middle of the intersection," the Fire & EMS Association reported on its Facebook page.

Aida Carrasquillo, 50, of the 600 block of Snow Goose Court in Havre de Grace, was taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to a regional trauma center. The victim took 15 minutes to be extricated from the vehicle.

Her injuries were not life-threatening, Sgt. Cummins of Maryland State Police said Wednesday.

Carrasquillo's 1998 Isuzu Amigo was hit by a 2008 Mercury Milan driven by Christopher Monahan, 28, of the first block of Steeple Avenue in Red Lion, Pa., Cummins said.

Monahan lost control of the car on the wet road and crossed the yellow line, striking Carrasquillo's car and damaging a guardrail.

Monahan was checked by paramedics at the scene and refused further treatment.

Alcohol is not suspected in the crash, Cummins said.

Members of the Level Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident.
