The Harford County Development Advisory Committee reviewed plans for a new Delmarva Power and Light substation in Whiteford Wednesday morning.
The station would be built on a 1.4-acre property on the east side of Route 136 and north of Ridge Road and replace the current station.
John Fellows, with Duffield Associates representing Delmarva, told the committee the company was mandated by the federal government to improve "some of their reliability issues" and the new substation is in response to that.
There will be no water and sewer service to the station as it's only a minor electric substation and there will be a gravel access drive to Route 136.
The owner of nearly 26 acres on the east side of Glenville Road in Churchville wants to subdivide his lot and create two additional lots for a total of three.
Nick Anderson, with Highland Survey Associates, represented owner Richard Umbarger at the meeting.
It was noted that because there are tributary buffers and non-title wetlands on the property that it could be subject to county forest regulations.
