Delays for motorists using Route 1 across Conowingo Dam are expected to occur daily over a nine-week period starting Monday, Nov. 12, the dam's owner said.
The removal of two cranes on the dam will make it necessary to temporary delay traffic on Route 1 in both directions from Route 222 in Cecil County to Shures Landing Road in Darlington, Exelon Generation, the dam's owner said.
The temporary delays are expected to occur weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and weeknight delays may occur between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. over the nine-week duration of the project, according to an Exelon Generation news release.
The delays on the highway will last from 15 to 20 minutes at a time, the company said.
All necessary permits have been received by the Maryland State Highway Administration, the company said.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
