A Perryville man and an Aberdeen woman are being held in the Harford County Detention Center on armed robbery and related charges.
London A. Anderson, 23, of the 300 block of Beacon Point Drive in Perryville, and Myulika L. Brooks, 20, of the first bock of Valley Bottom Road in Aberdeen, were arrested Friday.
Both are charged with armed robbery and robbery, according to court records. Anderson is also charged with two counts of second-degree assault, and Brooks is charged with unlawful removal of a prescription label and possession of a drug other than marijuana.
The two are being held at the detention center on $150,000 bail each, after a judge declined to reduce their bail on Friday.
During the respective bail review hearings before District Court Judge Victor Butanis, an assistant state's attorney argued Anderson's bail should remain as set, pointing out Anderson has a prior firearms conviction. Butanis agreed, calling the current charges "very serious."
In noting that Brooks is Anderson's co-defendant, Butanis also kept her bail at $150,000. Both could face in excess of 40 years in jail if they are convicted of all the charges against them, the judge noted.
According to a statement of charges, a Harford County Sheriff's Office deputy saw a gun fall out of Anderson's waistband while the deputy was making a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way at 6:58 p.m. on Thursday.
Anderson was in a fight with another man, and he, along with another woman, told police Anderson and Brooks tried to rob them, according to the statement.
The victims told police Brooks asked for a cigarette when Anderson came up, grabbed the female victim by her arm and began pulling items out of her purse, including a bottle of Xanax pills, according to the statement.
The gun was found to be a BB gun, with the orange safety tip colored black, according to the statement.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
