Fire, rescue and EMS crews responded to an accident with a vehicle fire and rescue in northern Harford County early Wednesday afternoon.

A county-owned pickup truck and a passenger car collided on Route 165 near Belle Farms Court in Pylesville, police and rescue personnel at the scene said. The accident happened around 12:35 p.m., according to monitored county emergency radio transmissions.

The pickup truck flipped over and caught fire, rescue personnel said.

The truck driver was not injured but the driver of the Honda Civic was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center with minor injuries, Capt. Keith Warner of the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

The county vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck, was destroyed, County Spokesman Bob Thomas said.

The 61-year-old driver is a 40-year employee of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Thomas said.

The driver of the Civic, who cut off the truck driver, was at fault, Warner said.

The truck is assigned to the county's department of parks and recreation, Thomas said.

Route 165 was closed to traffic between Grier Nursery Road and Route 543, as fire crews and police cleared the scene. Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company equipment and fire and rescue personnel responded.
