“Our fresh rock fish is our number-one entrée,” says Jay Mottley, general manager of Pelican Cove. Guests can order the fish blackened, baked or char-grilled. “The food quality speaks for itself. This is not a chain restaurant. Everything is fresh and cooked to order.”
From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Pelican Cove serves lunch with celebrity and sports-inspired sandwiches, such as the Cal Ripken, which is a 4-ounce Eastern Shore-style crab cake with lettuce, tomato and tarter sauce served on a Kaiser roll, and the Lady Gaga, which is grilled turkey with Swiss cheese and bacon served with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on French bread.
Other sandwiches include the Iron Bird, inspired by Aberdeen's minor league baseball team. The sandwich features grilled marinated chicken breast sautéed with green pepper onion topped with melted Provolone cheese on hot French bread with mayonnaise, Pelican Cove's secret golden sauce, lettuce and tomato. Sandwiches range in price from $6.90 to $8.90 and served with your choice of one side dish.
Every weekday, Pelican Cove has happy hour from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with drink specials, such as half-priced martinis and beer. For a delicious treat, be sure to try the Covey Candy Apple Martini, which includes butterscotch schnapps, apple liqueur and cranberry juice.
“This is a nice place to come after the movies for dinner with the family,” Jay says, referring to the nearby Regal Cinemas. “Or grab a quick drink with a few friends.”
