“In our busy, often distracted daily lives, meditation is an essential tool for helping to develop mindfulness, focus, and a healthy mental perspective on daily life,” says Kelsang Menla, administrative director for the center.
The classes take place every Tuesday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County in Churchville. Sessions begin with a guided relaxation meditation of about 10 to 15 minutes and five minutes of meditation in Buddhist chanted song.
Afterward, there is a talk on a topic relating to “peaceful and positive living using Buddhist ideas,” according to Menla, followed by a Q&A session and closing meditation.
Drop-in meditation classes are $10 per week or $5 for students, seniors and the unemployed. For more info, please visit meditationinmaryland.org or call 410-243-3837.
