1961 Carry Back

"The Little Brown Colt from the wrong side of the tracks," as TV sportscaster Chris Schenkel called him, Carry Back was the product of the mating between a mare named Joppy and a stallion named Saggy at the Pons family's Country Life Farm in Bel Air in 1957. The colt outran his bloodlines to capture two-thirds of the Triple Crown and several other top races, coming from way back to win the Derby in what is still one of the greatest stretch runs in the race's history.
