Hard to believe though it may be, the first day of school is not many days away. We've burned through Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July and the Harford County Farm Fair, and by the time Labor Day weekend arrives, school will already have been in session for a week.
For some, it's time to squeeze in a family vacation. For others, it's time to make the most of the remaining weekends of the season.
And there's plenty of action around Harford County, including two major events this weekend, the 10th annual Maryland State BBQ Bash in Bel Air and the annual Havre de Grace Seafood Festival, this year featuring music legend Charlie Daniels and his band.
However you prefer your summertime feasting, on crabs or pulled pork, or both, you can satiate your cravings this weekend. Or you can peruse the community calendar for any number of more low-key, or low-calorie, summertime diversions.
The following weekend brings the Havre de Grace Arts Festival, also a popular summertime event for these parts.
The three events constitute something of a last hurrah of the season. Of course, they aren't the only ways to make the most of a waning season, but if you're looking for something to do, they're as good as it gets at this time of year.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
