I am writing to express my opinion about the Super Wal-Mart
that is to be built along Plumtree Road. The traffic situation is already very bad because of Patterson Mill Middle/High School, Festival and its proximity to Bel Air. The current traffic situation will still get worse even before the addition of the Wal-Mart. The number of people who live in Harford County increases every year as the process of urban sprawl continues. There are also a number of stores being built right now next to where Wal-Mart plans to build their new store; this is already impacting the congestion in the area.
I have personally witnessed traffic backed up from Patterson Mill Road to St. Mary's Church Road; this traffic would be unimaginable if a Wal-Mart was along this route. It would also be built very close to some huge suburban areas.
Huge corporations like Wal-Mart just want to build more stores so that they make more profit, they do not care about the impact their stores will have on our roads and neighborhoods. Please help the people of Harford County voice our opinions on this important issue.
