Letter: Havre de Grace Winter Wonderland organizers thankful for support

Halloween

Editor:

The Havre de Grace Winter Wonderland Committee wants to thank everyone who attended our Halloween dance at the Community Center, dancing the night away to the fantastic rock and roll sounds of LIX. I also want to congratulate the winners of the costume contest. Most who attended "dressed for the affair" and they all looked terrific.

The Winter Wonderland committee funds the street lighting, light pole decorations and Santa Land during the Holidays in the great little town of Havre de Grace. This event and our cookbook sale are our only two sources of revenue to make sure our town once again looks as festive as it did when we were kids.

We want to thank the many people who have supported us and helped make our dance so successful: Mayor Wayne Dougherty, Jim Newby, Cathy Vincenti and the Chamber of Commerce (for sponsoring us), Don and Priscilla Forsythe, Rodney Swam and Mergler Electric, Pepsi Cola, Goll's Bakery, Joe Avampato and Joe Gilbert at One Stop Liquors, Shawn Forton, Zellman Funeral Home, Lyon's Pharmacy, Pat and AJ Fair, Java by the Bay, Pizzazz, Creative Sanctuary, MacGregor's, The Ritz, The Bayou, Darryl Leonetti and his guys from the "Sober Living House" in Aberdeen, and the best rock and roll band around, LIX.

We wouldn't be able to accomplish what we do without a successful fundraising effort and all of the support and help that we receive from the business community. So please keep it up. We want to help bring more customers to Havre de Grace to shop during the holidays.

We still need more….and we have bigger plans to make our town even better…so please buy our Havre de Grace "What's Cookin'" cookbooks for holiday gifts and bring a child, grandchild, or yourself to sit on Santa's lap at Santa Land beginning First Friday Dec. 7 in downtown Havre de Grace.

I also want to thank my committee for their hard work in putting all of this together; Rodney Swam, Rich Holly, Darryl Leonetti, Nancy Long, Jay McSpadden, Richard Elliott, and all of the volunteers who came out to help us.

Thanks again for a wonderful evening of costumes, dancing, and fun.

Mark your calendar for Oct. 26, 2013 for the second annual Winter Wonderland Monster Ball!
