First Fridays have proven so popular in Havre de Grace that Havre de Grace Main Street, Inc. hopes its attendees can stick around for a new event: historic walking tours.

The organization tried hosting the tours this past year, but attendance was spotty. Adding them to First Fridays, however, might provide a needed boost, organizer Kathy Keen said.

"We are just trying to see how it goes," she said.

The tours might tentatively also still be offered Saturdays and Sundays. More information is available at http://www.mainstreethdg.com, where tickets of $12 each are also available.

People will be able to hop on the tour at 6 p.m. Friday.

The path, which basically follows the Lafayette Trail, will take about 1 1/2 hours, Keen said.

The groups will meet at Jana's Java, 217 N. Washington Street.

The last such tour was held in November, as Keen said they would only run from about May to December.

Bill Watson, arts and entertainment chairman for Havre de Grace Main Street, said he hopes to get the tours more exposure with the new times.

"The primary reason [for the new time] is I don't think we were necessarily getting enough attendance," he said. "We wanted to do it on First Fridays because we have a built-in audience. We really think we will get more exposure."
