A man who was Tasered by Aberdeen police during his arrest in connection with a robbery early Thursday morning has been hospitalized, court officials said at his scheduled bail review hearing Friday.

Keone Angelo Givens was arrested after he allegedly robbed Exxon gas station, at 7 N. Philadelphia Blvd. in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen city police had said in a news release that officers had used a stun gun on Givens during his arrest a short time after the robbery.

According to Maryland electronic court records, Givens, who is 22 and lives in the first block of Church Green Avenue in Aberdeen; has been charged with robbery, theft less than $1,000, three counts of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of vandalism less than $500.

He was originally held at the Harford County Detention Center on $250,000 bail and was scheduled to appear at a bail review hearing in District Court in Bel Air Friday afternoon.

Court officials, however, said Givens had been hospitalized at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air but gave no further details. The bail review hearing was rescheduled to Monday afternoon.

Monica Worrell, spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff's Office, which operates the detention center, said she couldn't comment in detail about Givens' medical situation because of federal HIPPA regulations.

"I can tell you he was transported to the hospital at approximately 5 a.m. this morning [Friday] for treatment of a pre-existing medical condition that presented itself after his arrest and incarceration at the HCDC," Worrell wrote in an e-mail.

According to the earlier Aberdeen Police Department news release, a man entered the Exxon and told the clerk: "Your money or your life."

No weapon was displayed, according to the department's call for service log.

The robber, who police said wore dark clothing and covered the lower part of his face, was given money and ran from the store.

Police identified a suspect as Givens, who allegedly assaulted several police officers and caused property damage and minor injury to an officer during his subsequent arrest, according to the news release.

Police said Givens was Tasered and they were able to successfully recover all the cash stolen during the robbery.
