The Harford County Department of Public Works said Trimble Road at the intersection of Fort Hoyle Road in Joppa will be closed to all thru traffic for 34 days beginning July 23 for construction of a roundabout.
Trimble Road has become more heavily traveled in recent years. The three-way intersection where the roundabout will be built is near both Magnolia Elementary School, whose entrance is just to the east on Trimble, and Magnolia Middle School, whose entrance is on Fort Hoyle.
The county Board of Estimates approved a $461,000 contract to construct the roundabout June 28. The contractor is Gray & Son of Timonium.
In a news release, the county DPW said Detour signs and routes have been established and should be followed during the course of the road closure.
"Trimble Road at Fort Hoyle Road will be reopened to traffic no later than August 25," the news release concludes.
